The exoteric aspects of Religion are found in the institutions of the Churches and Temples. People are taught to believe certain essential doctrines for example when you die you will go to heaven or hell or Jesus Christ will save you if you believe and pray to him.

In Judaism the basis is an external GOD who blesses or punishes. In Judaism the Messiah is still to come. In Christianity Jesus or Yeshua is the messiah.

In Nichiren Shoshu Buddhism the Priesthood are at a higher ranking than the layman and for example if the Sun is the Buddha state then the earth circling the sun us the priesthood and the laity are the moon circling the Earth.

Consistently in organised Religion there is a hierarchy which is sacrosanct and going against it means you slander can be excommunicated or cannot be saved.

So — Islam seeks to convert the whole world as does Christianity. The essence of Nichiren Buddhism is shakubuku as the Priests sincerely want converts. The sola Gakkai a swcularoff shoot of Nichiren Buddhism is a strict hierarchy run by Daisaku Ikeda who is idolised by his followers

Similarly the Dalai Lana although calling himself an ordinary monk is looked upon by many as a living GOD

The esoteric aspects of religion become spiritual paths and are the way of the seeker for truth.

This is truth which has not the brain washing soap operas which society has to offer. The esoteric aspects of spiritual experience, often personally guided by a spiritual Being or Master offer the imminence of grace or Samadhi which defies ordinary expression

Samadhi was described by Edgar Mitchell Apollo 14 lunar module pilot on   his way back to Planet Earth from the moon when he looked at the blue jewel suspended in space.

“It was all there suspended in the cosmos on that fragile little sphere. What I experienced was a grand epiphany accompanied by exhilaration, an event I would later refer to in terms that could not be more foreign to my upbringing in west Texas, and later, New Mexico. From that moment on, my life would take a radically different course. What I experienced during that three-day trip home was nothing short of an overwhelming sense of universal connectedness. I actually felt what has been described as an ecstasy of unity…. I perceived the universe as in some way conscious. The thought was so large it seemed inexpressible, and to a large degree it still is.”

Edgar Mitchell: I realized that the molecules of my body and my partners, and the molecules of the spacecraft were prototyped in some ancient generation of stars. And suddenly, instead of being an intellectual experience, it was an emotional experience, followed with an ecstasy!

It was only after I came back to earth and started researching the mystical literature that I realized that the experience that I was having all the way back home had a name. It’s called samadhi in the ancient Sanskrit—the samadhi experience

He said”  the first thing you recognize is what the mystics have always said, that in some mysterious way the universe is totally interconnected. You live that, and you feel that. And you recognize that what we do to each other, we do to ourselves. Kind of like the traditional near-death experience—you feel compassion, you are more sensitive to nature, to the universe itself. So your values are deepened, and they become more there, and you have to live them”.

Samsdhi a term found in Hindu and Buddhist literature and is probably a state common to all mystics no matter what their spiritual path or belief.

We are indeed tiny and insignificant , mere blobs of protoplasm on a tiny planet in a small galaxy which could contain 40 billon earth like planets

And yet in the right auspicious circumstances when we reconnect with the totality and with the source of all which is so magnificent that it defies explanation or comprehension, we are revitalised and rejuvenated and perceive ourselves and other humans and all if life with compassion

We are more than what we seem to be and yet the heavens only open for us when we make that final leap in to the mind of the GOD of our understanding.

As human beings we can change the sorry state of affairs we see around us.
